JUST DO IT A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY

When you discover the foods that nourish your body, but are used to eating "other" things, all you wanna do sometimes is have that other thing!

Here are a few slight changes I've made to "common foods" to include the foods that make me feel great and cut out the igredients that make me feel not so great! I would say I even enjoy these substitutions more than the originals...Actually, these should be the originals :)

Peanut (or any nut) Butter and Jelly:

-Sourdough or Ezekial bread

-Spread on nut butter of choice

-Top with your favorite fresh or even frozen fruit (for the jelly)

DELICIOUS!

Sautee

-Add bone broth of your choice to your pan (as your oil)

-Throw in veggies or meat. This method keeps meat very tender and juicy!

Movie Night:

I do like to enjoy popcorn from time to time. I like it savory sometimes, and other times I want it sweet.

Savory:

-Airpop or use coconut oil to oil pop popcorn kernals

-Add salt and vinegar wing seasoning. They come in little packets at the grocery store. YUM!

Sweet:

-Same popping method as above

-Add your favorite protien powder. SERIOUSLY! Just sprinkle it on! I like to add salt, too, for a kettle corn, sweet & salty taste. *Side note: I like to also eat popcorn with a spoon like cereal :) Does anyone else do that?!

Bonus Egg:

The yoke of an egg adds some very important nutrients to our diets, especially when paired with its mate- the white. Don't skip the yoke- just ramp it up a bit!

-Cook whole egg according to your preference

-Add in extra egg whites with it. I add anywhere from 1/4 cup to 3/4 cup

Better Smoothie:

Personally I like to chew my food. I like to leave it in as close to it's natural form as I can. So, instead of blending, make a smoothie bowl!

-So many options here, I could not list them all. Just take whatever you are throwing into the blender and throw it in a bowl instead

-Use a spoon to enjoy

You might even find that this leaves you feeling more full and satisfied than if you were to blend it up and drink it!

Got Milk; 2% Milk:

I'm not a huge milk drinker but I like my groceries to go a long way, and most of the time I just don't want the "heavyness" of whole milk. But you can do the taste and nutrients of milk and cut out some of the fat.

-Add whole milk to a glass

-Mix in a splash of extra water

VOILA! 2% MILK! And you're not paying for a jug of water and little bit of milk! Make it yourself and your milk will go a lot farther!

Chocolate Syrup Drizzle + Protein:

Actually for this one you can use any flavor you desire, but I'm gonna talk about chocolate! Whenever I make pancakes I do this instead of syrup, or use it on anything else I'd like to add a chocolately drizzle to.

-Chocolate protein powder (or any flavor)

-Splash of water or milk or milk alternative (3-5 Tablespoons)

The consistency should be like that of syrup. Add just enough liquid to make the protein powder smooth. Drizzle on cottage cheese, toast, egg whites, fruit, yogurt, and even ice cream (once in a while!). The possibilites are endless!

Peanut Butter Cup:

This one is so easy! I'm a big fan of dark chocolate so I usually have a bar of 80% Cacao around. When I'm in the mood for something a little sweet after a meal- something like a peanut butter cup- I make a far better one than all those candy companies!

-One square of dark chocolate

-Spread peanut or other nut butter on top

-Sprinkle with a touch of salt

That's all I need! Craving satisfied!!

Keep it simple! Be Creative! Be Brave!
